Rules

WHO CAN ENTER?

Competition is open to PRIVATE AND INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS WORLDWIDE AS WELL AS AGENCIES, DESIGNERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, WEB DEVELOPERS, ASSOCIATIONS, ETC that work with private schools. (Exceptions are Categories 3, 7, 11, 13, and 26 which can only be submitted by the school and must be created in-house without outside help.) Schools must serve students in any grade from PK through 12th grade or PG, including schools outside the United States. Entries may have been produced at any time, but may not have already won an InspirED Brilliance Award. There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted by any one school or agency. Any item can be submitted in multiple categories in the same year provided a separate entry fee is submitted for each. 

WHEN CAN THE ENTRY BE PRODUCED?

The entry can be produced at any time, as long as it hasn’t been a Brilliance Award winner in the past.

HOW WILL THE AWARDS BE JUDGED?

Entries will be judged on sets of criteria outlined below. In the event that there aren't sufficient or awardable entries in any one category, the category will not be judged. We anticipate there will be a Gold, Silver and Bronze award for each category. Minimum score applies for winners. No refunds. Each entry will be judged by a panel of experts in private school marketing who are representatives from schools and/or businesses. Judges will recuse themselves from judging entries created by their own school or company. The judges will not know the name of agency that submitted the entry, only the name of the school.

Entries are scored on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest using all or some of the criteria below.

Criteria

  1. Originality: Is it new, different, unlike the others?

  2. Persuasiveness: It’s not possible to know the intended strategy behind a piece, but does the entry do what it’s supposed to do? For example, if it's a fundraising piece, would it motivate the audience to give? Enrollment piece, to visit or apply? Magazine, to feel connected to and proud of the school?

  3. Design: Does it have visual appeal, demonstrating the effective use of such features as creativity, color, typography, graphic elements, and layout? Is it readable? Is it creative and fresh?

  4. Copy: Does the text or video script enjoyable to read or hear? Does it have attributes such as creativity, freshness, ability to motivate or convince, storytelling, Is it interesting, well written, well edited, and error free? Does it motivate, convince, inform, or tell a good story? Is it creative and fresh?

  5. Photography/Film: Is it high quality in terms of composition, lighting, technical values, and storytelling?

  6. Overall appeal: Is the project appealing to you?

WHAT IS THE ENTRY FEE?

Entries fees are: Early Bird $49 (ends midnight 9/13/19); Standard $59; Small School #26 $29*. Payable by credit card. Entry fees are not refundable.

HOW DO I ENTER?

Go to the "Enter" page. Complete the entry form, submit the entry fee, and send your materials to InspirED.

WHAT ARE THE TERMS?

Submission of entries to the InspirED School Marketers Brilliance Awards acknowledges the right of InspirED to use them for publicity for the purpose of promoting future competitions or the InspirED website. Securing the release for any entries, whether digital or printed, is the responsibility of the entrant. All printed submissions become the property of InspirED and will not be returned. InspirED may re-categorize submissions at its discretion. In the event that there aren't sufficient or awardable entries in any one category, the category will not be judged. The judges will review all submissions and their decisions on categories and winners are final. No refunds. Judges will recuse themselves from judging work from their own school or company. Schools that enter Category #26 attest that their school's annual revenue does not exceed $3 Million.

Winners will be notified by e-mail no later than Tues, Jan 7, 2020. Winners and winning entries will be posted on the InspirED website and social media channels. 

DO THE JUDGES KNOW IF THE ENTRY WAS SUBMITTED BY A FIRM OR BUSINESS?

No. The judges only know what school the entry is for, not who submitted the entry.

WHY SHOULD I ENTER?

InspirED recognizes the value of competition. Winning an award...

WHAT DO WINNERS RECEIVE?

All winners receive:

  • a certificate in celebration of their win

  • their work posted on the InspirED website with select judges' comments

  • the opportunity to be featured as an InspirED By Example case study

  • a press release template to customize for media and

  • a digital Brilliance Award-Winner badge for your website and social media

Oh. And all winners get bragging rights for years to come. 

IF WE DON'T WIN, CAN WE SEE THE JUDGES' COMMENTS ANYWAY?

No. InspirED realizes the judges' comments may be helpful in improving your school's marketing and communications, but the Brilliance Awards is a competition not an audit, and the judges' are commenting on the entries with that purpose in mind. So unfortunately, we don't share judges' comments except for those that appear with the winners on the website.
